Advocacy
Foundational learning needs of adults are too often overlooked
Calgary Learns advocates for the foundational learning needs of adults, benefiting individuals, families and our community.
Our multi-pronged approach:
- Cross-sectoral collaboration: We engage in partnerships that highlight the intersectionality of our work.
- Funding: We advocate with the Province regarding the growing and emergent needs of adult foundational learning.
- Reconciliation: We attend to priorities identified by the Indigenous community.
- Amplifying Voices: We highlight the needs and priorities of the literacy and foundational learning sector locally and nationally.
Collaborations
Literacy and education are powerful tools in the fight against poverty.
- Contributor to Enough for All 2.0: We partner with organizations advancing Calgary’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, championing the Adult Literacy and Foundational Learning lever of change.
- Member of the National Literacy Alliance: This coalition advances literacy in Canada, and its work is reflected in The Case for National Literacy Strategy for Canada.
